Privacy Policy

1. Architectural Overview: 100% Offline & Account-Free

Save Downloads is built strictly as a client-side, offline-first mobile utility. We do not require, collect, sell, or store any personal information, email addresses, names, user accounts, passwords, or login credentials. The application contains zero user sign-in forms or remote database profiles.

2. Media Processing & Private Vault Storage

All media extraction, stream resolution, downloading, remuxing, and file conversions occur directly on your local Android device:

  • No Cloud Storage: Downloaded files are saved to your device's internal storage or SD card under standard MediaStore folders (Movies/SaveDownloads, Music/SaveDownloads). No files are uploaded to external servers.
  • AES-256-GCM Private Vault: When you move files to the Vault, they are encrypted locally using streaming AES-256-GCM via Android Jetpack Security (EncryptedFile) and moved into an app-private sandbox directory with a .nomedia file. Encryption keys are securely managed by the Android Keystore system.
  • Screen Capture Protection: The Vault screen enforces Android's FLAG_SECURE, preventing screenshots or screen recordings while unlocked.

3. Anonymous Crash Diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics)

To ensure technical reliability and diagnose fatal application crashes across diverse Android device configurations, the application integrates Firebase Crashlytics.

  • Data Collected: Crashlytics reports contain only technical diagnostic metadata, including stack traces, device model, Android OS version, CPU architecture, and total memory available at the time of a crash.
  • Zero Content Tracking: Crashlytics does not collect user names, IP addresses, media URLs, downloaded video titles, file contents, or search queries.
  • User Opt-Out: You can completely disable crash reporting at any time by opening the app Settings and toggling off "Send anonymous crash reports".

4. In-App Clipboard Link Detection

For your convenience, the app includes an option to detect copied video URLs when opened. This operates strictly within the foreground window (onResume()) while you are actively viewing the application. There are no background services or background clipboard listeners. You can disable this feature in Settings under "Detect copied links when I open the app".

5. Website Data & Analytics (savedownloads.com)

Our public website is hosted as static HTML files on Cloudflare Pages.

  • Cookies: The website does not set marketing, tracking, or cross-site profiling cookies.
  • Turnstile Security: To protect our direct download infrastructure from bot exhaustion, we use Cloudflare Turnstile to verify human requests before issuing download tokens. Turnstile does not use tracking cookies.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: We may use privacy-preserving, cookie-less Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate page views without collecting IP addresses or personal identifiers.

6. Permissions Requested by the Android App

The Android application requests only permissions strictly necessary for its local operations:

  • INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to establish parallel HTTP Range connections to fetch user-requested media streams and detect Wi-Fi vs mobile data.
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC: Required by Android 14+ to keep large downloads running continuously without interruption when minimized.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required on Android 13+ to display local download progress notifications and completion alerts.
  • Storage Access Framework (SAF): User-granted directory tree access to read temporary WhatsApp statuses and export them.
  • USE_BIOMETRIC: Optional local fingerprint / face unlock for the Private Vault.

7. Children's Privacy

Save Downloads is a general audience utility and does not knowingly collect or solicit any information from children under 13.
